Archie Macauley
Archie grew up on his family’s farm in Ireland, gaining hands-on experience with broodmares, foals, yearlings, and racehorses from an early age. While studying at Trinity College Dublin, he served on the committee of the university’s Horse Racing Society, organizing educational visits to some of Ireland’s leading farms and training centers to introduce fellow students to the thoroughbred industry. During this period, Archie also competed regularly in National Hunt races across Ireland and England and spent a summer in Australia working for leading trainer Ciaran Maher.
After graduating, Archie moved to Canada to work for dual U.S. and Canadian Hall of Fame trainer Roger Attfield, riding track work at Woodbine and Payson Park in Florida. In 2019, he joined trainer Ricky Hendriks as an assistant and jockey, where he developed a deep appreciation for American steeplechasing.
Since 2020, Archie has specialized in private sales and identifying value at public auctions. His approach combines traditional horsemanship with detailed quantitative analysis, incorporating speed figures, stride data, and pedigree evaluation into his assessments. Through experience and continual review of performance data, Archie has developed a strong understanding of the physical traits most likely to produce fast, durable, and sound racehorses.
